DESCRIPTION/
In Experimental Typography, every project obtains an abstract but essential background. The components of this 32-page book are primarily based on personal experiences from a daily routine. The experience could be mental and/or physical. For example, the place where someone lives or a book they might like. The perspective of this project is based on the well-known fairy tale written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid.
CONCEPT/
The Little Mermaid is a tragic story about a young mermaid who is willing to give
up her voice and fishtail in exchange to become a human. She is hoping to be able to fall in love with her beloved prince who she saved from a shipwreck. At the end of the story, her wish did not come into fruition; nevertheless, she chose to sacrifice herself instead of killing the prince so she could stay alive.
When revisiting this story as an adult, it turns out to have a different meaning
from what is initially read as a child—it displays the dilemmas and complications
that people suffer and struggle within love. Devotion comes and goes, but what
is really eternal?
